Kroger recalls two ice cream flavors over undeclared allergen

American retailer Kroger has recalled Private Selection Chocolate Hazelnut Mascarpone Ice Cream and Private Selection Caramel Hazelnut Fudge Truffle Ice Cream due to potential presence of egg that is not declared on the label.

The affected Private Selection Hazelnut Mascarpone Ice Cream was sold in 16 fluid oz packages, and bears a UPC code of 1111052101. The product was distributed to Kroger family of stores in 31 states.

The recalled Private Selection Caramel Hazelnut Fudge Truffle Ice Cream, which was sold in 16 fluid oz packages with UPC 1111052100, was sold at the Kroger stores in 15 states.

The retailer said that people who are allergic to egg could have a severe reaction if they consume this product, and advised them to return the product for a full refund or replacement.

However, there have been no reports of customer illnesses reported to date.
