Another Broken Egg Cafe (ABEC) has signed an agreement with its largest franchisee Double R Restaurant Group to open 40 restaurants in South Florida, US.
The expansion will be across the state, from south of Orlando to Key West, Florida and along both coasts. The proposed store openings are expected to create 200 jobs across the region.
The agreement also includes Double R's acquisition of Broken Egg Café in Siesta Key and Lakewood Ranch.
The company expects to open six to eight restaurants a year, with focus on Tampa to Naples. The expansion will increase the number of ABEC restaurants in Florida from the current six to 30 in three years.
In August 2013, ABEC announced a 10-unit expansion plan for Central and North Florida.
Brand Development vice president Nick Binnings said that the initiative is part of ABEC's strategy to have over 100 restaurants in operation by the end of 2017.
"ABEC has done extremely well in the Florida Panhandle and with the new development of Orlando and Jacksonville; this will tie the entire state together. We are currently negotiating leases in Tampa, Sarasota, Naples and the East Coast of Florida," Binnings added.
Established in 1996, Another Broken Egg Café has 28 operating units to date.
The restaurant offers 90 different menu choices, including six varieties of Eggs Benedict and an array of specialty items such as biscuit beignets, blackberry grits, sweet potato pancakes, shrimp and grits, gluten free and vegan friendly selections; along with savory crab cakes, salmon, shrimp and lobster choices.
