The German natural colour specialist GNT claims to have become the first company to offer oil-dispersible colouring foods spanning the entire spectrum of colour shades.
Marketed under the company’s Exberry brand, the oil dispersible colouring foods give manufacturers of oil- and fat-based foods new options for clean-label colouring.
Typical uses include seasoning slurries for savoury snacks, chocolate, chocolate compounds, fat coatings and spreads – applications that couldn’t be addressed with existing water-soluble concentrates.
“Our new product line serves the growing consumer demand for foods and beverages that are free from additives with E-numbers. This genuinely is an industry first, and gives the food industry a complete colouring foods palette to remove designated additives and artificial colours from oil- and fat-based foods,” said Paul Collins, managing director of GNT UK.
The new colouring foods are made from fruit, vegetables and plants. They are processed into edible concentrates through gentle physical methods and without the use of chemicals. GNT says they do not impact on flavour, can be mixed directly into formulations and provide uniform colour shades.
