Global beverage major Coca-Cola has acquired majority interest in Zico Beverages, a producer of Zico Pure Premium Coconut Water.
Zico Beverages produces and sells packaged drinks. It offers coconut water with various flavors, such as natural, chocolate, pineapple, mango, lima citron, pomberry, and passion fruit.
The acquisition is expected to gear up Zico's marketing, selling, manufacturing, innovation and distribution opportunities with full access to the resources of the Coca-Cola system.
Coca-Cola North America Venturing & Emerging Brands president and general manager Deryck van Rensburg said that over the past four years the company has watched the coconut water category see an impressive spike in revenue and household penetration and Zico solidify its position as one of the leading brands in this category.
"With our acquisition, we plan to innovate in all aspects of the consumer experience and increase both velocity and distribution to position ZICO for even more growth. This announcement is the sign of a continued beginning for the brand, with more resources, support and cachet to come," added Rensburg.
The Coca-Cola Company manufactures, markets, and sells nonalcoholic beverages across the world.
