Cargill announced a recall of chicken feed because the products have incorrect levels of calcium which aids in bone development.

The voluntary recall includes Nutrena NatureWise Meatbird & NatureWise Chick Starter Grower feed in 40- and 50-lb. bags, the company said. The feed was manufactured in Cargill's facilities in Flora, Ill., Oklahoma City, Okla., Abilene, Texas and Mineola, Texas between May 1 and Nov. 21. The products were sold in Arkansas, southern Illinois, southern Indiana, Kansas, western Kentucky, Missouri, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

“We are working with our retailers to notify customers about this issue,” the company posted on its website. The company is offering a full refund or replacement product for feed that is returned to the point of purchase.

“In the meantime, we are working diligently to resupply our retailers,” the company added. “We appreciate your patience and understanding. We are very sorry for this situation.”
