Farbest Foods Vincennes had cause for celebration Dec. 2 as the company held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of its new turkey processing facility and its second feed mill, JFS Milling. Both facilities are in Bruceville, Ind.
The 227,000 sq. ft. plant in Vincennes Industrial Park will employ 300 people on the first full shift. Farbest said there is potential to add more workers if production expands to a second shift. JFS Milling will employ 30 workers.
Scheduled to appear at the event are: Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann, Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum and Ted Seger, president of Farbest Foods.
Farbest Foods built the Vincennes facility because its home plant in Huntingburg is approaching maximum capacity. The company’s investment in the project is approximately $75 million. Farbest Foods is one of the largest turkey producers in the country overseeing production of its own turkeys – totaling more than 10 million per year. The company currently produces 1,800 tons of turkey feed daily using locally grown corn, soy beans and other agricultural products.
