UK-based Joule’s Brewery has launched a new dark winter seasonal brew - Old No 6 - over the weekend.
This is the sixth beer since the new brewery was built. Old No 6 is inspired from an unmarked trial brew of a dark beer - No 6 - and is brewed by the brewery's head brewer Mark Leedham.
Leedham said that there's some roasted barley for a creamy head, which helps in a well known Dublin Stout.
"There's a good balance between bitterness and sweetness to make it very different to the Slumbering Monk," Leedham added.
Trudie Meredith of Joule's Brewery said that developing a seasonal ale range allows their brewers to test and create interesting beer styles.
"By brewing a series of special editions - known as the seasonal collection, we can create more specialist beers and it brings life back to our core range," Meredith added.
The brewery also plans to explore the archive and to produce some of its beers as seasonal guest beers in the future.
