RiceBran Technologies, Compson Trading to produce Stage II rice bran derivatives

US-based RiceBran Technologies has signed a distribution and supply agreement with Taiwanese firm Compson Trading to produce certain Stage II rice bran derivatives products.

Compson Trading is engaged in the distribution of functional ingredients and nutritional supplements.

As per the deal, the Stage II rice bran derivatives, including RBT's RiSolubles, RiFiber and RiBalance products, will be produced.

These products will be exclusively distributed by Compson into the nutritional supplement and functional food market in Taiwan with non-exclusive distribution rights into certain neighboring countries.

RiceBran Technologies Sales and Business Development senior vice president Robert Smith said, "Compson is a recognized leader in the supply and distribution of functional ingredients and nutritional supplements in Taiwan and neighboring geographies.

"By combining our best-of-breed technology with Compson's product development expertise and established distribution capabilities, we expect to generate increased in sales and profitability for both companies."

RiceBran Technologies is involved in the production and marketing of value added products derived from rice bran. The company has proprietary and patented intellectual property that allows the conversion of rice bran into a number of human food ingredient and animal nutrition products.
