According to the company financial data, Cora Romania ended 2012 with a turnover of EUR 359 million, a 6 percent increase compared to 2011. In the same time, the retailer's net profit dropped by 38.5 percent in 2012, to EUR 5.5 million. In July last year, Cora opened a commercial centre at Constanta, encompassing a hypermarket and a commercial gallery, following an investment of EUR 51 million. Also, in October, it opened a retail unit at Ploiesti, within AFI Palace commercial centre, following an investment of EUR 6.1 million.
For 2013, the retailer plans to open a new hypermarket in Bucharest, within Victoria City mall and a commercial centre at Brasov for which the company is looking for a partner to develop the project.
In Romania, Cora currently runs 12 hypermarkets, out of which four are located in Bucharest and eight in other Romanian cities as Ploiesti, Cluj Napoca, Baia Mare, Arad, Drobeta Turnu Severin, Constanta and Bacau.
