American millionaire Charles Banks, the former owner of Screaming Eagle winery, has acquired 25% stake in Trinity Hill, a winery in New Zealand, through Terroir Selections.

The move forms part of Trinity Hill's strategy to expand its exports across the world.

Commenting on the transaction, Banks was quoted by The New Zealand Herald as saying, "I have been hugely impressed by the strides the New Zealand wine industry has made in the last 12 years and I feel the future is very bright.

"Trinity Hill is in a terrific position to prosper, having consistently delivered high quality wines across its range."

In addition, Banks had purchased a majority stake in Rhône blend specialist Qupé in California during October last year, as well as Mayacamas Vineyards in May.

Founded in 1987, Trinity Hill winery offers three ranges of wines.
