Core Tip: This year’s Spring promotion from Schoeller Allibert offers impressive savings across a broad range of harvesting and distribution trays for the fresh produce sector, with options for all varieties of fruit and vegetables.
This year’s Spring Schoeller Allibert promotion from Schoeller Allibert, a world leader in plastic reusable transit packaging (RTP), offers impressive savings across a broad range of harvesting and distribution trays for the fresh produce sector, with options for all varieties of fruit and vegetables.

Advance orders placed up to 28th March 2014 will be eligible for considerable cost savings, depending on product and quantity chosen, with swift delivery from April to early May – just in time for early Spring produce.

Included in the promotion are Schoeller Allibert’s market leading Maxinest produce trays – in five sizes – ideal for most types of fruit and vegetables from broccoli and cauliflower to apples and pears. The smaller and shallower trays in the Maxinest range are ideal for more delicate items like salads, herbs and tomatoes. Two models of the Geobox bulk containers are also included, and are particularly suited to potatoes and top fruit, while potato growers can benefit from discounts on potato chitting trays.

Also part of the Spring promotion are two models from Schoeller Allibert’s XLXS range – Europe’s flattest-folding produce tray which maximises efficiency on return transport. Designed specifically for fruit and vegetable distribution, with smooth edges to promote hygiene and prevent damage to produce, XLXS trays fold to only 28mm high for greater vehicle fill – yet a stack of trays can still carry up to 160kg on the bottom container.

Simon Knights, regional sales director – UK & Ireland, explains: “It’s possible to stack more than 325 empty XLXS folding trays per standard UK pallet compared to the usual 180 nesting trays - leading to an 80 per cent improvement in vehicle utilisation, fewer road miles and a reduction in the amount of storage space required. XLXS is therefore an efficient and robust alternative to the cardboard containers which are still often used to import goods from Europe in the grocery sector.

“Both XLXS and Maxinest trays are designed to go from growers or processing facilities straight to supermarket shelves, reducing the need for double handling as well as cutting vehicle trips. Eliminating the time and money spent on repacking and reloading is a major advantage for the distribution industry and, together with the space saving benefits, these are the main reasons we are seeing such high demand for our folding and nesting containers. Advance ordering enables us to manufacture these key products in bulk, resulting in cost savings which we’re able to pass on to customers this Spring.”
