UK-based tray sealerPackaging Automation specialist Packaging Automation is set to introduce SkinPAC, a new pack format designed for fresh products such as meat and fish.

Claimed to offer high visibility vacuum packs aimed at improving shelf life, better product quality and packaging reduction, the SkinPAC system uses a transparent barrier film around the product and forms a seal with the bottom of the tray.

The company stated that its tray sealers can be easily adapted to seal trays with gas flushing or vacuum or skin packing, allowing food producers to alter pack formats to cater to their customer requirements.

Originally, the Skin packing format was used for fish packaging, and recently adopted for meat, poultry and game products packaging.

The company will showcase the SkinPAC at Foodex 2014 event, scheduled to run from 24-26 March 2014 in Birmingham.

It will launch a new ultra low energy range of tray sealers that helps eliminate most of the running costs, compared with traditional tray sealers as well as a new electric machine that has tray sealing capacity at 150 packs per minute single lane.
