Chinese dairy producer Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group has partnered with Wageningen University to establish a new R&D center in the Netherlands.
Wageningen University and its R&D center are the leading scientific research institutions in the European life science domain.
The surrounding areas of the university, known as the European "Food Valley," house world's top food scientific research institutions, with more than 15,000 researchers in food and relevant specialties.
The latest development comes after Yili's overseas investments in New Zealand, US and Italy.
Yili Group chairman Pan Gang said, "What kind of dairy products are needed in the future is a great challenge as well as a great opportunity. Confronted with the challenge and opportunity, Europe will become the most important part in the global R&D system of Yili.
"We shall not only cooperate with the top research institution, but also continue with the world-level research topics. What's more important is that we will invite global experts into our R&D team."
The European R&D center will become the company's intelligent engine in terms of the three fields, added Gang.
Yili has begun research work on the products, and the result is expected to be out soon.
