British spirits supplier Mangrove has separated from its parent company Coe Vintners and established an independent firm.

The new limited company has been created to remove bureaucracy from the business, in a move to be more flexible and reactive. However, Mangrove's ownership remains the same.

Mangrove's new company managing director was quoted by DI sister title OLN as saying, "We have grown up and left home. Mangrove has grown to a size where it needs dedicated time, resources and systems.

"It makes us more responsible for our own future."

Mangrove was established as the specialist spirits unit of wine wholesaler Coe Vintners. The company's brands include Portobello Road gin, Louis Royer Cognac, Beluga vodka and Mozart chocolate liqueur.
