The rapidly expanding global network and the ever increasing legislature requirements are making supply chains more and more complex. Optimally adapted packaging solutions are crucial in order to ensure fast, dependable supplies. At the 2014 Interpack trade fair from 8 – 14 May, visitors at Stand D 22 Hall 10 are invited to see for themselves just what makes Schütz one of the driving forces and technology leaders in the sector. Both in the past and present, the company has always been swift to recognise market developments, to shape these creatively and develop specific solutions for customer needs.
Hand in hand: sustainability and modern packaging
This motto of this year’s trade show is “Innovative. Reliable. Sustainable. Global.” These are the four aspects that dominate and shape progress in the company. Visitors will be able to see the resulting innovations at the stand at Interpack 2014. The modern, open design of the booth with numerous multi-media elements moving along an arcade communicates the company’s dynamism and innovative strength. At the nearly 500-square-metre booth, visitors are invited to discover the world of the Schütz Packaging Systems business unit including all the latest product developments. Again, the focus will be on environmental protection and resource conservation, as a commitment to sustainability has been an integral part of the company’s philosophy for many decades. Ecological aspects are not only taken into consideration with regard to development and optimisation: in keeping with Schütz’s holistic approach, they also play a decisive role, for instance, in the expansion strategy and when selecting new sites and planning new factories. In all company activities all over the world, the global player is fully committed from the outset to conserving valuable resources. For example, in April 2014 the second Schütz factory in France will open to the southwest of Lyon in Saint-Étienne. At the end of last year Schütz opened its own production facility in Indonesia and in Sweden a new joint venture has been set up with the reconditioner All-emballage.
Individual solutions for demanding sectors
Sustainability and safety are of crucial importance for sectors that have to comply with exceptionally high standards, such as the food industry. Both the standards that production and logistics have to fulfil and the international statutory requirements are constantly rising. At the same time, consumers are showing an increasing interest in production processes and transport chains. The new Schütz Foodcert IBCs and drums were developed specifically to provide packaging options that for the first time provide complete material, product and process safety. As part of the successful introduction of this premium range, all production sites worldwide are being successively prepared for compliance with the latest industry standard FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification, based on ISO 22000 in connection with PAS 223). The company follows the recommendations of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI, www.mygfsi.com), which recognises this system certification. This complex process is due to be completed in the very near future.
Another key topic at the stand will be the Schütz Ticket Service. This eco-friendly recycling system for used IBCs celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2013. Thanks to the collection, reconditioning and recycling of IBCs, each year valuable resources are conserved and the environmental impact is lessened. At Interpack, international visitors will have the opportunity to speak to the international Schütz team at the stand and find out more about the benefits of different packaging solutions. The company will also be presenting more new, highly innovative products that offer even better safety and efficiency.
