A fire severely damaged a Hillshire Brands turkey processing facility, according to local news reports. No plant employees were injured, although a firefighter was treated and released for a shoulder injury.

A statement emailed from the company said: "On the evening of Saturday, March 22, we had a fire at our Storm Lake, Iowa, facility. There were no injuries reported. We are currently assessing the damage, and the plan is to keep the facility closed through until further notice. Upon the completion of the assessment, we will share additional details."

News reports state that a section of the plant's roof collapsed while the rest of the facility sustained heavy fire and smoke damage. More than 50 firefighters brought the blaze under control, although small flare-ups occurred until Sunday afternoon.
