The Lost Abbey has expanded its seasonal barrel-aged portfolio with the launch of a new Agave Maria Ale in the US.
Agave Maria Ale, the first tequila barreled beer, is brewed with Agave nectar and aged in both Anejo and Reposado barrels for ten months.
With 13.5%ABV, Agave Maria offers hints of black pepper, sweet sugar, oatmeal, and oak with an earthy, bitter smoked chocolate on the finish.
Packaging of the new ale features an artwork created by The Lost Abbey resident artist Sean Dominguez. The label includes Agave Maria mural, blessing Agave piñas, whilst candles illuminate her image.
The Lost Abbey QA and production director Gwen Conley said: "An incredibly smooth yet intriguingly complex beer, it's a perfect representation of the terroir of the Agave Fields."
The new ale will be available in limited draft and 375ml cork-finished bottles across the company's entire distribution network in April 2014.
The company will introduce this ale as an annual release.
