Core Tip: The price of agro-foodstuff in China was falling last week (March 17 to March 23) according to a survey of 36 medium and large sized cities by the Ministry of Commerce.
The price of agro-foodstuff in China was falling last week (March 17 to March 23) according to a survey of 36 medium and large sized cities by the Ministry of Commerce.

Last week, the supply volume of greenhouse vegetable increased in the north, so the average wholesale price of 18 vegetables saw a marked drop, going down by 2.7 per cent compared to the prices in the previous week.

The prices of rape, tomato and balsam pear stood out with a drop of 8.1 per cent, 7.7 per cent and 7.5 per cent respectively.

The wholesale price of meat saw ups and downs, with the prices of pork and beef falling by 1.1 per cent and 0.2 per cent respectively compared to the previous week, while the price of mutton rose by 0.2 per cent compared to the previous week.

The average wholesale price of aquatic products dropped by 0.1 per cent compared with the previous week.

The prices of small hairtail, crucian, and large yellow croaker stood out with a drop of 1.5 per cent, 0.6 per cent and 0.2 per cent, respectively.
The retail prices of grains and oil fell slightly compared to the previous week.

The price of small packaged rice rose by 0.2 per cent; small packaged flour, soybean oil and peanut oil remained almost the same and the price of rapeseed oil dropped by 0.2 per cent.

The prices of poultry and eggs saw a slight increase, with the price of eggs and the price of stripped chicken both rising by 0.1 per cent compared to the previous week.
