In light of the recent market increase in snack food products, which saw an 8.3 per cent uplift in 2012, the plastic packaging specialist says the industry needs to capitalise on this trend to stay ahead of the curve and remain competitive.
Healthy snacks are becoming more popular in the UK, as consumers lead increasingly busy lifestyles. The UK snack food market is predicted to rise by 30.5 per cent between 2013 and 2017. In addition, the demand increase for consumers on the move, who are looking for healthier snack alternatives, means fresh produce companies are in turn demanding attractive and quality packaging solutions.
Ruth Price, business development director at Sharpak Aylesham says, “Consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of nutritious food, and as a result, snacking continues to gain importance.”
Sharpak Aylesham continues to introduce new ranges to the market with differing sizes to meet the demand for small formats, as consumers seek to control portions instead of eliminating snacks from their diets, as part of a healthier lifestyle.
Sharpak Aylesham is offering the UK market a new range of snack pots for the packing of tomatoes, berries, cherries, grapes and any other snacking line.
Ruth adds, “These pots are gathering interest across Europe and we are pleased to offer them to the UK fresh produce market, alongside our other ranges, including our SPT tomato punnets. In addition, innovation remains key and our designers are constantly bringing new ideas to customers and retailers.
“The new range offers three options: a hinged pack and a pack with a separate lid which is available in two heights. Both are designed for automated filling, have a pop-up pressure opening system, and offer ventilation to allow the product to breathe. The hinge pack also has drainage holes at the base, so the product can be washed prior to consumption, making it convenient for the consumer.”
