Sun Branding Creative, part of Sun Branding Solutions, has designed packaging for a new range of specially made dog treats for Pepper’s Dog Treats, the private label brand from pet shop chain Pets At Home, as the company builds on last year’s successful launch of the brand.
Sun Branding Creative was tasked with creating new packs for this special range of gluten and wheat free dog treats, handmade in Cornwall, which hit shelves in Pets At Home stores across the country from this month.
The new range includes seven SKUs packaged in framed boxes with bone-shaped windows displaying the contents inside. Each pack is themed according to flavour, which include;
• Luscious Lamb Squares with Vegetables
• Scrummy Sardine "Chip Shop" Shapes
• Cornish Ox Nibbles with Vegetables
• Heavenly Chicken Stars with Spring Greens
• Tasty Turkey Bites with Apple
• Lovely Liver Hearts with Carrot and Aniseed
• Surfers Seafood Delights
Sun Branding Creative senior designer Simon Inman has illustrated each pack with an individual scene that continues through to the back of pack featuring a playful dog character. The scenes complement the pack flavours, such as the dog dressed in sheep’s clothing for the Luscious Lamb Squares.
Claire Gavin, head of private brands and innovation, Pets At Home, said: “Pets At Home launched Pepper’s Dog Treats last year to such success that we wanted to grow the brand for our customers and their canine friends. We worked with Sun Branding Creative to launch the brand, so naturally we wanted the agency to be involved in the diversification of the range.”
Simon Inman, senior designer, Sun Branding Creative, said: “Pets At Home has seen real success with Pepper’s and we’ve supported the growth of the brand right from the initial concept stages. The dog treat category is a crowded space and so Pets At Home was looking for a design that stood out on shelf. There are not many dog treat brands exploring illustration on-pack, so it was a project we had a lot of fun with. We chose a style that added personality and character for the new range.”
