Tyson Foods, Inc. announced plans to invest $15.5 million to expand the company's processing facility in Goodlettsville, Tenn. Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, Bill Hagerty, Economic and Community Development Commissioner and Tyson announced the news.

Tyson will add four production lines and expand cold storage capabilities at the Tyson Fresh Meats plant which produces case-ready beef and pork products for retail customers. Crews have begun installing new equipment.

“We’re very appreciative to the state of Tennessee and our local partners for their support on this expansion, which will help us build up our capabilities locally,” said Jeff Rowen, Goodlettsville complex manager. “We are continuing to grow our business and adding these lines will help us better meet the needs of our customers.”

The expansion will support 157 new full-time workers. The plant currently employs about 1,600 workers. Tyson Foods and its subsidiaries employ more than 4,300 Tennesseans at company facilities in Goodlettsville, Shelbyville and Union City.
