INSIDE Secure, a France-based provider of embedded security solutions, and object identification company Selinko have launched CapSeal, which is used to identify counterfeiting in the wine and spirits market.
CapSeal, a bank-certification level solution compliant with existing capsules, tackles the problem of fraudulent bottle refilling, claims INSIDE Secure.
It consists of an INSIDE Secure VaultIC 150X chip connected to an antenna that is inserted on the neck of the bottle, just above the cork.
Using Near Field Communication (NFC) smartphone or device and Selinko's mobile platform, the solution scans the chip embedded in the tag to verify the authenticity of the bottle, confirming that it has not been previously opened.
Selinko CEO Patrick Eischen said that consumers are keen to adopt a system that prevents the fraudulent refilling of bottles of wine and spirits and that can be easily implemented.
"INSIDE Secure's CapSeal combined with Selinko's platform is a technology breakthrough to tackle those problems," added Eischen.
