Cornwall baSharp’s Brewerysed Sharp’s Brewery has launched three new beers, a limited release Honey Gold ale and two single batch brews, Dark Sky Stout and Doom Bar Reserve 20.

As part of Sharp’s ongoing commitment to creating new flavours, the new beers are available for a limited time only across the South West and South East of the UK.

The first of the new limited release beers is a golden ale, Honey Gold. At 4.2% ABV, Honey Gold is flavoured with aromatic US hops and a subtle combination of ginger and honey, available in on trade outlets across both South West and South East regions.

The beer has been released to help raise money for the Fishermen’s Mission, the only national charity specifically providing emergency and welfare support to UK fishermen.

Following recent severe weather and impacts on businesses in the brewer’s home in Cornwall, Sharp’s launched the promotion to raise funds, with 10p for every pint sold going toward the charity until 4th July 2014.

Sharp’s Brand Manager, James Nicholls, said:

“Earlier this year we saw terrible weather conditions really impact local businesses here in Cornwall, with many of our customers nationwide also affected.

“We’re always looking at ways we can give back to the community, so this was a great opportunity for us to do so.

“Last year we raised more than £12,500 for the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust with our Sharp’s Own, Special and Cornish Coaster being sold in Cornish pubs.

“We’re hopeful to build on this success with our Honey Gold promotion and provide some much needed relief to affected fisherman.”

In additional to Honey Gold, Sharp’s has also released two single batch brews, Dark Sky Stout and Doom Bar Reserve 20, both available across the South of England while stocks last.

Sharp’s Director of Brewing, Stuart Howe, said:

“We’re passionate about brewing great beer, and constantly thinking about new flavours to experiment with.

“To this end, we regularly put out special limited releases and single batch brews, not only to test the market but also to ensure we continue to make exciting, innovative beer.”

True to its Cornish heritage, Dark Sky Stout has been named in support of the bid to grant Bodmin Moor ‘Dark Sky’ status, making it one of only seven such places in the UK.

At 4.3% ABV and with only 220 casks made, the beer has a soft, fruity body leading to a piny hop and roast coffee finish.

Doom Bar Reserve 20, at 6% ABV, has been brewed as a celebration of Sharp’s most iconic beer brand and in light of the Brewery’s 20th Anniversary.

The beer is mahogany in colour and has a bitter-sweet, fruity flavour with a warming finish.

With only 180 casks brewed, it has all the balance and precision of Sharp’s best-selling ale lifted by a vivid dry hop note.
