The regulationsDescartes for labelling food are being adapted. It is to become mandatory to note nutritional value, allergy declaration and the origin on all items. Producers and retailers in the food sector must also make sure that the information on the packaging is also available to the consumer purchasing the item online, before they have bought it. The new commodities act will start on the 13th of December 2014. This has a big impact on producers and suppliers in the LMB and the fruit and vegetable industry.

It is also becoming increasingly important to get goods through the retail chain as efficiently as possible. It is important that information about goods is recorded centrally in a data pool, to be able to send details between trading partners quickly. This information is placed in the GS1DAS data pool within the LMB sector. Retailers and suppliers use this to exchange electronic article data and label information. This enables an efficient and reliable sharing of data between trading partners.

Descartes has developed a Saas solution, with which you can create and integration between your backoffice system (ERP application) and the GS1DAS data pool: GDC Connect. With GDC Connect you can organise all your article data and label information quickly and easily.
