Finatrade Group, the West African trading conglomerate, has unveiled a new alcoholic beverage bottling plant in Ghana, under a partnership with South African wine, spirits and flavored alcoholic beverages producer.
Located in Tema, the new $5m plant will bottle Distell's whiskey and spirit brands as well as cider.
The bottling plant is expected to develop management and technical skills for employees in Ghana as well as boosting Ghana's manufacturing sector, the company claims.
Finatrade chairman Nabil Moukarzel said that the value of foreign direct investment on the continent continues to grow and intra-African initiatives contribute around a quarter of the flow, according to the most recent Africa Attractiveness survey.
"By pooling the skills of both Finatrade and Distell, we have provided a good example of how other African business partners can collaborate for the good of the continent," added Moukarzel.
Distell, an investment holding company, produces, markets, and distributes alcoholic beverages and other non-alcoholic items in South Africa and internationally.
