Located in Nelson County Industrial Park, the distillery will be spread over an area of around 45,000ft² and will use local ingredients to produce bourbon and other spirits.

Construction on the proposed facility will begin in summer 2014 with opening scheduled in 2016.

Additionally, Bardstown Bourbon will construct a visitor center and warehouses.

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear said the distillery being constructed will cater to the increasing demand for bourbon.

"I look forward to seeing this distillery up and running and the positive impact it will have here in Nelson County and across the Commonwealth," added Beshear.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority has approved $1m in tax incentives for the company, through the Kentucky Business Investment program, along with $300,000 worth tax benefits under the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act.

Lebanon Senator Jimmy Higdon said, "As the bourbon industry continues to grow, Bardstown is becoming one of Kentucky's most visited cities. I appreciate companies like The Bardstown Bourbon Company investing in our community."
