US-based Stony Creek Brewery has broken ground for the construction of a new craft brewery in Branford, Connecticut.

The proposed brewery will be spread over an area of about 30,000ft² and it will house two outdoor decks, a tasting room and a celebration room.

Stony Creek plans to open the new brewing facility by the winter 2014.

Commenting on the development, Stony Creek Brewery owner Edward Crowley said: "One of our goals has been to have the brewery built by as many Branford businesses as possible. From the architectural work, to engineering, structural, legal and contracting, we have supported our hometown."

Additionally, Stony Creek intends to expand its product portfolio with the introduction of seasonals and limited releases.

Along with its (203) Stony Creek Lager, the company brews (203), (860) and (401) India Pale Ales, which are available throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Stony Creek Brewery's products are distributed through Dichello Distributors, Hartford Distributors, Levine Distributing and Rhode Island Distributing.
