Walkers Unveils ‘Do Us a Flavour’ Competition Finalists

After receiving 1.2 million entries, Walkers has announced the six flavour finalists:

Ranch Racoon, Chip Shop Chicken Curry, Hot Dog with Tomato Ketchup, Pulled Pork in a Sticky BBQ Sauce, Cheesy Beans on Toast and Sizzling Steak Fajita.

Walkers re-launched the ‘Do Us a Flavour’ campaign back in January this year kicking off a nationwide search to find new, great-tasting flavour combinations.

Entries closed in March and now voting opens to the public until mid October, when the £1million prize winner will be announced and the five runners up each bag a tasty £10,000.

Commenting on the flavour competition, Lee-Teng Chung, Walkers marketing manager, said:

“It’s clear Do Us a Flavour has sparked the nation’s imagination this year; there’s been an incredible number of entries including countless weird and wonderful suggestions like Piri Piri Pigeon with Sour Cream; Roast Pork and Toffee Apple; Afternoon Tea, Cheese and Cucumber.

“We’re really excited to see which of the six finalists will be crowned the winner and walk away with the amazing £1million prize – it’s now in the hands of our shoppers.

“The voting stage kicks off now and runs until 17th October.

“With the competition already proving to be extremely popular with consumers, retailers should make the most of this opportunity and stock the ‘limited edition’ final flavours to maximise sales whilst they can.”

The judging panel included comedian David Walliams and Michelin starred chef Marco Pierre White, who helped the Walkers team whittle down over one million entries to find the six competition finalists.

The final six flavours are now available in stores nationwide alongside traditional Walkers packs so shoppers across the UK can sample each bag and vote for their favourite flavour online at – www.walkers.co.uk.

The ‘Do Us a Flavour’ finalist packs will be available to consumers until mid-October 2014, when the overall winner of the public vote will be announced.

The Walkers ‘Do Us a Flavour’ final packs will be available in individual 40g bags (RRP £0.70p), two six packs (RRP £2.06) and two 20 packs (RRP £5.29).

The competition will be supported by a fantastic marketing campaign including in-store, online and on TV to encourage the nation to vote for their favourite flavour, presenting retailers with a huge sales opportunity.
