French spirits firm La Martiniquaise has opened a new winery and a centralized bulk storage in northwest Portugal.
The new winery has the capacity to produce six million liters of wine per year, while the centralized bulk storage has a capacity to store 20 million liters.
It is surrounded by the vineyards of the Douro valley, where the grapes used in the production of Port wines, La Martiniquaise said.
La Martiniquaise Group International marketing director Sylvia Bernard said that La Martiniquaise has a long history of passion with Port.
"This investment in Douro, will cement our commitment to develop the sales of Port and to expand the positions of Porto CRUZ worldwide," added Bernard.
La Martiniquaise offers scotch and malt whiskies, aperitifs, white spirits, proto, rums, vodkas, cognacs, Armagnac, calvados, white aniseeds, wines, tequilas, cocktails, and gins.
