US-based McCormick & Company has announced a voluntary recall of certain bottles of Ground Oregano.

Testing by the Food and Drug Administration revealed that McCormick Ground Oregano 0.75 oz. bottles may contain Salmonella.

The bottles are labeled UPC 0-523561-6 with code dates BEST BY AUG 21 16 H and AUG 22 16 H.

According to the company, this recall affects 1,032 cases that were shipped nationwide. However, no illnesses have been reported till now.

This recall does not impact any other McCormick Ground, Whole or Oregano Leaves products.

The company has alerted customers and grocery outlets to remove the product with the affected date codes from store shelves and distribution centers immediately, and urged to dispose the recalled product and its container.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infection in young children, elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.
