Albert Reynolds, a key figure in European pet food and former Irish head of government, has died.
He was the co-owner of C&D Foods, which started producing petfood from its base in Ireland in 1969, supplying its produce to its home country and the UK.
Over the years, sizeable investments in the business allowed it to spread across Europe. The company now has increased its presence to incorporate major production facilities and sales offices in 11 EU locations.
In 2008, the company joined forces with the ABP Food Group, and is now one of the largest Private Label Petfood producers in Europe, supplying pet products to many of the major supermarket and retail chains.
Reynolds served as the Irish head of government from February 1992 to December 1994.
