Diageo has announced plans to expand its production capacity by investing in a new bottling line at the Stitzel-Weller distillery in Louisville, Kentucky.
Expected to become operational later this year, the proposed line will bottle a range of American whiskeys and will be able to handle new whiskey offerings in future.
The whiskey to be bottled at the site will be the first of its type over the past 20 years as Stitzel-Weller distillery has been idle since 1992.
Work on a $2m tourist and whiskey education center at the Stitzel-Weller site is currently underway and is scheduled for opening in September.
Earlier this month, Diageo has broken ground on a $115m distillery in Shelby County, Kentucky. It is expected to become operational in late 2016.
The proposed 1.8 million proof gallon distillery will have six barrel warehouses and will be involved in the production of Bulleit Bourbon.
Diageo has recorded 0.4% rise in net sales, during the year ending 30 June.
The company witnessed growth in North America while it was stable in Western Europe.
