Maelor Poultry is expected to invest £10m in the site of a former cheese packing factory, First Milk, near Wrexham in the UK.
As reported in the Daily post, the chicken processing company Maelor Poultry that bought the site is expected to create 150 direct jobs via local supply chain if the deal to develop an advanced food processing plant falls through.
Maelor Poultry is working with Wrexham Council for the former First Milk site that shut down in March, leaving 200 employees jobless.
Maelor Poultry spokesperson said: "We anticipate an initial investment of up to £10 million on this site, to create a leading edge production facility.
"The geographical location lends itself to such a facility because of the proximity of numerous poultry farmers and a local hatchery. There will be investment in modernising the site, and developing a state-of-the-art processing plant.
"It is expected there will be indirect job creation as a result of the investment, thanks to supply chain opportunities both in the Welsh border area, and into Shropshire and Cheshire."
The site has been operational for over 60 years, being utilised as a food or dairy processing facility.
