Core Tip: The 8th Aquafeed Horizons conference is taking place in Germany next month and will showcase an international line-up of experts to discuss the latest technology and research in aquaculture.

The conference will take place alongside the world's largest feed industry trade show, Victam International, in Cologne on 9 June 2015.

The conference is geared towards commercial aquafeed producers but Aquafeed Horizons is also an essential meeting for any feed manufacturer considering making aquatic feeds and for equipment and ingredient suppliers looking to further their understanding of this segment of the feed market.

The interaction of processing and ingredients is crucial in all feed production, but in fish feed there is more opportunity for things to go wrong. This is because of the sensitivity of fish and the huge variety of species with their specific nutritional requirements and physical pellet requirements.

New ingredients, such as algae and alternative grain products as well as functional additives, are increasingly finding their way into aquafeed formulations.

Knowing how processing affects the nutritional and physical properties of a formulation, as well as how the ingredients in the formulation affect the process, must be well understood by both processors and formulators and this will be a core topic of this year's Aquafeed Horizons Conference.

Other highlights include a talk on sustainability and various talks discussing ideas and innovations for the future.

Anyone wanting to attend the conference must pre-register by 31 May.
