India's Punjab Agro Industries Corporation (PAIC) is planning to establish a new food park in Ladhowal, Punjab, in a move to provide advanced infrastructure facilities for the food processing sector.
The proposed food park will see an investment of around INR1.41bn ($21.8m), as reported in Hindustan Times.
The project includes creation of centralized processing centre (CPC) at Ladhowal and primary processing centers, collection centers at identified fruits and vegetables clusters, including Malerkotla (Sangrur), Shahkot (Jalandhar), Sultanpur Lodhi, (Kapurthala) Village Sandhwan, near Kotakpura, (Faridkot) and Bring Mohanpura (Tarn Taran) for the sustainable supply of raw materials.
The CPC will also house individual quick freezing unit for vegetables, dry warehouse for raw material, steel silos for food grains, controlled atmospheric cold store, pre-cooling chambers, ripening chambers, deep freezers, milk chilling unit, weigh bridge, steam power generating unit, food incubation centre and testing laboratory.
The food park will have food units processing frozen fruits and vegetables, frozen french fries, milk, maize, bakery products, wheat pasta, tomato and chilli, snack foods, chicken, fish, goat, eggs, malt, honey and turmeric.
