Australian establishment Mrs Mac’s has recalled frozen meat pies due to possible presence of metal pieces, according to the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ).

The product subject to the recall is 720g Bakewell 12 Party Pies with Best Before date 15 December 2016.

Available in cardboard skillet wrapped in film, the recalled product was distributed to Woolworths in Western Australia.

Consumption of the recalled product containing metal may cause injury. Customers are advised not to consume and instead return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Mrs Mac's manufactures a wide range of pies in its bakery in Perth, Western Australia. The company claims to use fresh ingredients from around Australia which includes prime beef, flour, freshly prepared vegetables and Australian cheese.

Mrs Mac's currently employs around 350 people from Australia and New Zealand.

The company has a food safety system based on Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point principles and Good Manufacturing Practices for all support programs. The system is third party audited to Woolworths Quality Vendor and Spotless Food Safety standards.
