The Republic of Angola will begin destroying 11 million eggs that have been imported illegally into the country.
The eggs were imported in large amounts into the country without an appropriate authorization from the Ministry of Agriculture, Angola Press News Agency reported citing minister of Agriculture, Afonso Pedro Canga.
These eggs can not be introduced in the supply chain as they do not possess a relevant license from the Ministry of Trade.
The importers responsible for bringing these eggs into the country will be held accountable.
Citing Jornal de Angola, BBC reported that close to 26 containers full of eggs have been seized by the authorities.
Recently, Russia destroyed Western food products that have been imported breaching counter sanctions imposed by the country in response to sanctions imposed by West over Ukraine crisis.
Russian president Vladimir Putin signed a decree ordering the destruction of the food ranging from gourmet cheese to fruits and vegetables. Over 170,000 people opposed the government's decision of destroying food, which could be used to feed people below the poverty line.
