The pineapple market is currently facing shortages. Due to the bad weather conditions in Costa Rica earlier this year, supplies are incredibly low. The bigger players on the market are just able to meet their long-term commitments, but on the free market, hardly any pineapple is available. Supermarket promotions are totally out of the question. If you manage to get pineapples on the free market, you'll have to pay 13/14 Euro. Last year, the price was still around 6 Euro.
Melons
Melon trade is going well in the meantime, with the current exchange rate also contributing to that. The Brazilian ones arrived at an empty market, and for some weeks now, Galia Cantaloupe, yellow and watermelons are supplied. Prices for yellow melons have gone down a bit, but the Galia and Cantaloupe are still priced well. For seedless watermelons, 70 cents is paid.
