Egypt's Agriculture Export Council, in cooperation with the German-Arab Chamber of Commerce, has issued a report on the opportunities for Egyptian agricultural exports in the international markets.
The report, released last Tuesday, reveals that Egypt has promising opportunities in 145 countries, and that the future looks bright for Egyptian agricultural exports, as private investment in this sector is high and work is constantly underway to reach the highest international standards to ensure continued growth in the agricultural markets.
According to the report, Egypt has stepped up its efforts over the past ten years to boost its exports of agricultural products, which have registered a 226% increase.
Some of the most promising markets for Egypt are the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, Greece, Germany, Romania, Lithuania, Spain, and France, where the country ships a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.
During the 2014/2015 campaign, the most exported Egyptian products were oranges, of which the country shipped 1 million and 220 thousand tonnes, potatoes, with a total of 650 thousand tonnes, onions, with 492 thousand tonnes, beans with 182 thousand tonnes, grapes, with 111 thousand tonnes, tomatoes, with 109 thousand tonnes and pomegranates, of which Egypt exported 55 thousand tonnes. Other noteworthy product were green beans, with 44 thousand tonnes, mandarins (36 thousand tonnes), strawberries (34 thousand tonnes), lemons (33 thousand tonnes) and peanuts (26 thousand tonnes).
The German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce also recently announced that Egypt has been chosen official partner of Germany for the next edition of the international fruit and vegetable exhibition Fruit Logistica, which should help in strengthening the export relations between Egypt and the European Union.
