Currently, total export volume of fruits, such as pears and chestnuts, from Hebei Province amounts to 300,000 tons a year, with an estimated value of 200 million USD. Hebei's pear export accounts for 60% of China's total pear exports and chestnut export accounts for 80% of China's total export.
In recent years, Hebei province has invested in the development of large-scale planting, cultivation, and breeding projects. Currently, the fruit export base in the whole province occupies more than 1 million hectares (15,000,000 mu). The Province aims to produce premium fruit varieties. A quality standardization system has been implemented and 35 national and provincial demonstration zones have been established. Fresh products are exported to Europe, the US, Canada and Australia.
