In the near future, it may be possible to start the export of Georgian citrus to Central Asia, reports Zaur Putkaradze, Minister of Agriculture of Georgia, to the newspaper "Kommersant". The department is currently actively negotiating this issue.
It is assumed that the products could be transported to Central Asia via ferry lines across the Caspian Sea.
"Our railways are actively involved in this process. We are working proactively with them in order to prevent any problems in the future. I believe that this year it will already become possible to export large quantities of products to Central Asia, such as citrus fruits and other agricultural products," he said.
He stated that, at the moment, the citrus fruits grown in the Adjara region are exported mainly to Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and other countries.
