Soft drinks company PepsiCo is bringing back its Crystal Pepsi for a limited period following a public demand.
The carbonates giant is offering a limited-time giveaway runs for the soda buffs to win their drink, which was popular in the 1990s, through a sweepstakes option on Pepsipass.com, reports TIME.
It is a six-pack low sodium, caffeine-free drink.
The winners of the sweepstakes would be announced during the week of 14 December and the products would be delivered by Christmas. Through this effort, the company is offering 13,000 six-packs of Crystal Pepsi.
PepsiCo marketing director Linda Lagos was quoted by TIME as saying: "Crystal Pepsi fans, and their enthusiastic requests for its return, inspired Pepsi to bring back this iconic '90s product for the holiday season."
The move comes after months of persistent calls from Crystal Pepsi fans who initiated and led a #BringBackCrystalPEPSI social media campaign. In June, Pepsi had hinted at the product's comeback, reports TIME.
Recently, the company chose North American beverage company Barfresh Food Group as its exclusive sales representative within the foodservice channel to offer Barfresh's ready-to-blend smoothies and frozen beverages line throughout the US and Canada.
Barfresh offers natural smoothies, shakes, frappes without artificial flavors, colours or preservatives. The offerings are also gluten-free, kosher certified, and smoothies made with real fruit.
The move signals the company's foray into non-carbonate segments as consumer trends show a shift towards healthier options.
