In 2014, Mexican agricultural exports to China reached to 146 million American Dollars. In 2015, up till now, this number has increased by 25%. Calzada said, that with the signing of new agreements, the export value to China will amount to 300 million American Dollars.
Data show that beer and avocado exports to China increased by 200% and 250%. The sales of blackberries and raspberries, after they arrived in China, amounts to 600,000 American Dollars.
China is at this moment, Mexico's second largest trading partner, second largest source of imports and third largest export destination. Mexico is China's second largest trading partner in Latin America. According China's General Administration of Customs statistics, China Mexico trade volume in 2014 amounted to 4345 billion American Dollars, an increase of 10.8%.On December 8th, Mexican Agriculture Minister Calzada said that there are broad prospects for Chinese Mexican cooperation in agriculture.
It is estimated, Mexican agriculture exports to China will reach 300 million American Dollars in 2016. Mexico will sell dairy products with a value of 1.5 million American dollars and tobacco with a value of 10 million to China. According to Calzada, Mexico will also export 1.5 million tons of maize to China next year, with a total value of 100 million American Dollars.
