The initiative of the Russian Economic Development Ministry to reduce import duties on a number of vegetables, dates, pistachios and dried grapes has been endorsed by member-states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), which will make a final decision on cutting duties in the second half of March.
Last week, a source in the Russian government told RIA Novosti that the authorities asked their partners in EEU member states to cut import duties on cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, dates, pistachios and dried grapes. The first review of this initiative took place on February 18.
According to the Russian ministry, it is suggested that import duties on cauliflower, broccoli and Brussels sprouts be reduced temporarily from 11-13% to 5%; import duties on pistachios and dates are suggested to be reduced to 0% on a constant basis, and the import duties on dried grapes are suggested to be reduced temporarily.
