Foodservice distributor US Foods has agreed to purchase the assets of US-based Cara Donna Provision Company.
A family-owned business for three generations, Cara Donna Provision Company distributes food and related products to various restaurants and foodservice centres across New England on a wholesale basis.
The wholesale distributor caters to nearly 1,300 customers in New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine and Connecticut.
The Cara Donna Provision Company will shift its business from its location in Braintree, Massachusetts, to the US Foods premises in Norwich, Connecticut, and Seabrook, New Hampshire.
Cara Donna Provision Company executive vice-president Joe Cara Donna III said: "We see many similarities between US Foods and Cara Donna.
"With the size and scale of the company, our customers will now have access to additional products and business solutions."
The deal is expected to close on 4 March. The final terms of transaction terms have not yet been disclosed.
Headquartered in Rosemont, Illinois, US Foods employs nearly 25,000 people in 61 locations across the country.
Earlier this month, US Foods had announced its plans to go for initial public offering of its shares to raise $100m.
In December 2015, the company acquired Dierks Waukesha in Waukesha, Wisconsin, to expand its business in the Upper Midwest, the US.
