Recently, Branislav Nedimović, Serbian Minister of Agriculture, and the General Administration of Customs of China signed an agreement on the export of corn and sugar beets to China. The corn export protocol involves phytosanitary requirements for this crop, and the export of dried sugar beet involves sanitary and phytosanitary requirements. The Ministry of Agriculture of Serbia will strictly regulate the production process of related crops and supervise enterprises that export to China.
Sakovic, representative of the Cereals and Oilseeds Production and Export Association of Serbia, said that access to the Chinese market is of great significance to Serbian producers, as the Chinese market has a huge demand. The Chinese representatives were scheduled to visit Serbia in late 2019 to check the corn production, but the signing of the protocol was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and administrative issues.
