The Rosselkhoznadzor may suspend the import of cabbage, peppers and pomegranates from Turkey.

The Russian authority confirmed the detection of quarantine issues in 13 import batches. At the official website of the Rosselkhoznadzor, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision, expressed its concern about the situation with the import of certain types of plant products from Turkey to Russia.

Last month, according to the statement, the Rosselkhoznadzor discovered the presence of western flower thrips in peppers and cabbage (12 cases) and of the Mediterranean fruit fly in pomegranates (1 case). The batches were returned to the exporters.

These products were not included in the Government decree introduced last month, which banned the import of a number of products from Turkey. The Russian ministry threatened to introduce temporary restrictions on these products if the Turkish side does not take action and such cases are detected again.
