The lime sector from the Valley of Apatzingan wants to ensure that, during this week, lime prices remain at the same level they had in the previous week, i.e. between 7 and 8 pesos per kilogram, said the president of the Union of Packers from the Valley of Apatzingan, Jorge Hernandez Gaona.

In an interview, the representative of this sector said they were in the final stretch of the winter season and that the production volume had increased a little, as they were within weeks of the period when the citrus plantation's production increases in the area of Tierra Caliente.

Finally, Hernandez Gaona said they had marketed about 6,000 tons of fruit last week, which generated an economic impact of around 44 million pesos that are distributed among all the members of the Mexican lime production chain, mainly from the primary sector, i.e. producers and packers.

It is important to note that Buenavista and Apatzingan will continue cutting fruit on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while the producers from Nueva Italia, a municipality of Mugica, have begun cutting down fruits and selling them on a daily basis.
