Taiwanese veg prices saw largest increase in 21 years

Due to the adverse weather conditions at the beginning of the year, vegetables became more scarce.

In February, the consumer price index rose by 2.4% year over year, under which vegetable prices rose by 80.7%, the largest increase in 21 years. The last increase which was higher dates back to August 1983, when prices rose by 83.91%.

Food as a category rose by 8.45%, the largest increase in 42 months. It was mainly driven by vegetables and fruits respectively rising by 80.7% and 14.51%, together they rose by 1.93%.
