Currently the availability of Spanish sweet peppers is decreasing at the German market. “The supply has clearly decreased,” explains a German importer and wholesaler, “And so an increase in the prices is noticeable. At the moment the prices are between 21.50 and 21.60 Euros at the market.” At the moment large amounts of peppers from Turkey or the Benelux do not reach the market.
“The Dutch peppers are in high demand, but the amounts aren’t sufficient,” continues the expert, “The supply isn’t high enough to fill the demand completely. Regardless which color, red, yellow or green, for all variants there is room for improvement."
The low availability leads to increased prices. “If the supply increases then the prices will drop again,” predicts the importer, “Until then the wholesalers and the customers have to deal with the high prices.”
